Dear Lord, can you believe the damage that one little Basque surfer Aritz Aranburu did at the Billabong Pro in Tahiti this year? We know he can pigdog having grown up not far from Mundaka but his performance over there was pretty ridiculous. Watch his heat against Kelly on the Billabong Pro website. On his road to the semi’s he beat Dane, Kelly, Damo Hobgood and Tommy Whits. Aritz rode Chilli Surfboards on his way to his best ever World Tour result. Chilli would like to say Felicitaciones y gracias a Aritz y Pukas! Buena Suerte for the rest of 2009:)

THIS ISN’T SURFING…
Meet Kenny Block, the real life Ricky Bobby. We’re not really mad car people and this doesn’t have anything to do with surfboards or surfing but shit damn it’s impressive. Taylor here at Chilli wishes he could swing his Subaru around like this. Enjoy!

Big thanks to Dusty Payne who features on the cover of the July issue of Surfing Magazine riding his Chilli. Dusty is one of, if not the most exciting surfer in the world today! Dustoid has some of the biggest moves you’ll ever see and just recently won $US50k when he took out the Kustom Airstrike comp with the wild old air-reverse you can view below.
Andy’s Tour Of Tavarua
Did you here the news? Andy Irons has a wildcard into the Billabong Pro in Tahiti. Can’t wait to see how a brother goes. Chilli’s gonna be sending a couple of boards over for the man to try out. We’ve been feeling like there hasn’t been enough of AI on the site so we dug up this hot little piece he did for Fuel TV’s Daily Habit. Look closely at the board he pulls out of the racks. Thanks for the love, Andy. Good luck in the comp!

SHOW US YA BELLS!

Benny Dunn got beaten in the first round but he still tore Bells apart on his Chilli as he went down.
The Rip Curl Pro has kicked off at Bells Beach with the ASP unveiling a new contest format for the event. The new format sees man on man heats from the outset with the top rated surfers automatically seeded into the second round depending on how the went on the tour in 2008. It’s a little complicated to explain the new format in detail here in our modest little blog but the ASP site has got a good explanation of the new format. Tomorrow could see the second round get underway and you can watch it all live. Tiago Pires will be riding Chilli sleds in his heat 5 battle royale with 2007 World Champ Mick Fanning. Enjoy the show.
SWELLS ANGELS aka Lovers’land

Nothing but the open road… and a Chilli A2 of course. Image: Hump
Nathan Webster, Jason Salsa and Dustin Humphrey are currently thrashing steel horses (courtesy of Deus) up and down the east coast on a mission to round up waves. The three chums set off on their 650’s – equiped with board racks and Chilli’s – from the big smoke a week ago and have been hunting swell, getting lost, meeting new friends and ripping skids for a book/movie concept by Nudes and Hump. The original name for the trip was going to be “Swells Angels” but admist the current bikie war in Oz and for fear of a run in with the Hells Angels the boys decided to call the trip “Lovers’land”. The photos will turn up in Surfing World shortly and there could be a book in the future, but in the meantime you can trace their journey and view surf footage on their blog at loverslandblog.com
CHILLI GOLD

Gally and Critter… legends!
Torquay Surfing Academy operators Grayme “Gally” Galbraith and Christian “Critter” Rogulskyj took gold at the recent Australian Masters Games riding Chilli’s. Gally won his fourth masters title after taking out the 50-59 age group. Critter was victorious in the 30-39 age group. The boys will now head to Sydney in October to represent Australia in the 2009 World Masters Games. Go mad, lads!
THE LADIES MAN

"No photos please… obrigado."
Meet Tiago Pires, the best surfer ever to come out of Portugal. And we ain’t just saying that because he rides the Chilli’s. Tiago’s been on tour for a couple of years now and has been fetching some solid results. At the end of last season he blew his neck out pretty badly and missed the Pipe Masters. Unable to surf he took the opportunity to visit some different places and new faces. “I vacationed in Oslo and Moscow,” he told us. “Have you been? Oh my god! The women.… I will take you there!” After some major soul repair Tiago began training with the Portugese Rugby Team. These days he’s fitter than ever and in Oz gearing up for a big reuslt at Bells Beach where he’ll be riding the Chilli Step Down. To learn more about Tiago check out his ASP profile, ladies can find him on myspace.
